2. Servanthood is the Key to Authority.

If you want influence and authority, then be like Jesus, be the servant of all. Go with me to Luke 19:16-17. Here, the master gave authority to the servant over ten cities for his job well done. Where is the authority over? It is not just over your family, your children or over a shop, it is over ten cities. Note here it is said, “well done, good servant” and not “well done, great CEO, Pastor, Reverend” and so forth as I have mentioned earlier. The first servant was awarded ten cities or ten nations. Three things about Servanthood

1. Servanthood is the Key to Promotion

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,
15 That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.

Philippians 2:5-15

Verses 5 -7 tells us that this attitude must be in you just as it was in Jesus. This is the mind of Christ. Promotion doesn’t come by your actions. It starts with your attitude. Your attitude determines your altitude. People get promoted not just because of your skills or because of your excellent academic results. If you are going to reach the high office, it all starts with your attitude. This is the attitude and mindset of Jesus Christ who is our model, our example and our Saviour. (more…)

1 Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”
8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”
9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”
10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean, and you are clean, but not all of you.”
11 He knew who would betray Him, therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”
12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 for I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.
17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

John 13:1-17

Servanthood is not a word that not everyone understands, appreciate and willing to accept in their lives. To the world, the word “Servanthood” is a belittle and degrading word. No one wants to be a servant. Everyone wants to be someone great, mighty, powerful, popular and authoritative. But to Jesus, the word “Servanthood” has a totally different meaning. It is a word filled with power and authority if you understand the true meaning behind it. The Value of the World

Romans 1:29-31; (NKJV) being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful.

2 Timothy 3:1-4; (NKJV) But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

When we do a comparison between the values of the Ten Commandments against the values of the world system, you will find that the world’s system teaches you the opposite from the word of God. Romans 1:29-31 says that those who do not build on the values of God, will be filled with all kinds of evilness.

Romans 1:29-31 and 2 Timothy 3:1-4 are descriptions of the values of the world. In 2 Timothy 3:1-4, Paul was talking about the Ten Commandments. When you break any of the Ten Commandments, you do not honour God. (more…)

Where do these ten values come from?

These ten values come from the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:1-17 as mentioned earlier. Let make reference back to the ten values against the Ten Commandments.

Exodus 20:1-17

1. Exodus 20:1-3
Love the Lord thy God = the values of Loyalty

2. Exodus 20:4-6
Worship no other gods = the values of Commitment

3. Exodus 20:7
Not to take God’s name in vain = the values of Respect

Not to be presumptuous, proper honour

4. Exodus 20:8, 10-11
Honour the Sabbath day = the values of Accountability

The seventh day is the day that God has set aside for rest. It is during the Sabbath that you worship God, be connected back to God, reports to Him the events of the weeks and the things to come, and to hear from God what you should do in the coming six days. (more…)
