Turning The Giants Into Mice - Part 4

Cast Out Fear

The Israelites were already defeated in their minds before the battle began. They found excuses and blamed Moses for taking out of Egypt. They preferred to be tortured by the Egyptians rather than to face the giants. Which people in their sanity enjoy being physically tortured and be in lack?! None and yet here we are, we read in Numbers 14:1-4 that the Israelites chose that. To me, back to Egypt will be a worse end than face the giants. Trust me, the Egyptians are not going to open their arms wide and throw a party to welcome the Israelites home. Can you see how fear has made the people lost all sense of logic and common sense? The same will happen today if we allow fear to control our minds.

Fear is the opposite of perfect love – 1 John 4:18a. “There is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment.” Here, clearly the bible says that in perfect love, there is no place for fear to remain. Fear torments the mind. The torment of the mind is not the physical torment but the inward torment where day and night you be plagued with thoughts of death, lack of love and support, fill with bitterness and anger, the need to lash out at someone or to hurt somebody, unforgiveness, and etc. This inward torment is like a worm inside an apple. It will eat all the inside of the apple and then find its way out to attack another apple.

The only way to cast out fear is to turn to the opposite and that is love. The Scripture says that God is love (1 John 4:16) and we are to turn to God whose love will cast out all fear. This means we build on our faith and know our authority in Christ. As the child of God, we have the authority to cast out diseases and demons. We have the authority to stand in the gap for the situation before us and ask God to take over and turn the events around. It is simply by asking through praying and then believing God who loves you so much will not abandon you. He will deliver you out of the situation into something better. It is that simple – 1 John 5:14. “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him (Jesus), that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” And His will is we trust Him to give us only the best.
